I was thrifting and found a gorgeous vintage maxi dress for $2. It was too small for me, but I couldn't pass it up--that fabric! I decided to turn the beautiful dress into a couple of pillow cases. It was suuuuuper easy and took less than an hour!
First measure you fabric. I won't lie, I'm a real eye baller. I hate actually measuring. To be fair I've also ruined a lot of projects do to inaccuracy, so do yourself a favor and measure unless you're overly confident in your eye balling skills.
I wanted to make a pillow case with minimal sewing as I was doing it by hand. Measure a strip long enough to go around your pillow (both sides) and continue to wrap around the first side so you have a little extra (about 1/2 to 3/4 overlap) for your "pocket".
Pin in place with the right sides together. You'll only have two sides the length of your pillow to sew. Sew end to end. When you're done with both sides turn it right side out and stuff your pillow inside. Ta-da!
This is what the back will look like.
Lots of people don't like to use this method because the pillow isn't reversible, but I don't mind. It's very easy to change out your pillow cases this way or to wash if you spill on them (which I often do because Iove to eat dinner or a snack on the couch). Enjoy your restyle!
