Here's a little weaving update for you! I've been off the blog for weeks now (oops!). I started writing (still haven't finished) a piece focusing on my trip/ tour with my sister Kenna Mae who is moving to NOLA on SUNDAY?!!!?!! I can't believe it's happening in only A FEW DAYS. Life is crazy. After our trip I worked extra to make up for having a week off and felt overwhelmed with stuff to do and didn't get a whole lot done creatively.
Back to weaving though, sorry, I could go on and on an on! I've started a series of colorful, textural, and free flowing weavings. This is a new and exciting weaving chapter for me. Recently I was at a bar while David was playing with his band, listening and weaving. Many people came up and admired my work or were curious about what I was doing. Bring your craft with you out in the world. It is really good advertising! One man said "Oh, so you have a plan and know exactly what you're doing!?", he was shocked when I told him that I had absolutely no plan. I just... weave. My process lately is to start with a base of 5 or 6 colors and start weaving. The movement of the piece and the color choices change over time and vary based on where I am, what I'm listening to, and how focused I am while working. I use a few different neutral tones throughout the weaving to ground the piece and really make to colorful waves sit in the space.
